Born in Jennings, Van Wert County, Ohio. Moved to Noble, Oklahoma in 1900 when her father (Moab Mark) accepted the office of Postmaster in Noble, Oklahoma. She met and married Arthur Charles Bannister on January 15, 1902, in Noble, Oklahoma. It was in Oklahoma that they bore 3 children, their eldest (Ralph) passing away at 18 months of age. In 1917, they moved with their children, Alyce and Clyde, to Southern California, and eventually settling in Denair, Stanislaus County, California, living in a home built by Joseph Stephen Michaud, whose daughter (Lucille) would eventually marry Alyce's son (Arthur).
