He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 37 years, Janis Barry Coussan, and his parents Riolan Coussan and Florence Breaux Coussan of Carencro.

A lifelong resident of Carencro, Luke graduated from Carencro High School in 1963 with honors and received his Bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, or USL, in 1967. He earned his law degree from the Louisiana State University Law School in 1970, and practiced law for the remainder of his life.

Luke enjoyed acquiring and restoring antique furniture, and was proud of his varied collection. He cherished travelling with his family and friends across the country. He had an abiding appreciation for the histories of the United States and Louisiana. Luke cherished time spent with his friends, especially his fellow Carencro High Class of 1963 graduates.
