Edward was married 20 Apr 1893 in Page County, VA to Annie Mary Good, daughter of John P. and Amanda J. (Sigler) Good. They had one child, Pearl (1894-1925).

NAUMAN, EDWARD age about 21 yrs., son of J. M. Nauman was fatally shot on Christmas day, 1895, near the Ochre Bank above Stanley, this county & died 30 Dec 1895. The evidence at the examination show that a large party from the neighborhood had met & there was a quarrel, resulting in the shooting of young Nauman by Virgil Stoneberger with a shotgun. There were several shots fired, but no one else badly hurt save young Nauman. His father had his throat cut & this from the evidence, was also done by Virgil during the struggle. There were many persons present & the quarrel seems to have been a general one. Four of the parties Virgil Stoneberger, Godfrey Stoneberger, Wesley Campbell & 'Not' Campbell, were by Justice Bragonier committed to jail for the grand jury, the three last as more or less implicated in the matter. Dr. Hudson, Coroner, held an inquest upon the body of young Nauman, assisted by Dr. Keller. The evidence before the inquest was to the effect that the fatal shot had been fired by Virgil Stoneberger. The autopsy showed that some 30 or more shot had entered the body from the front and a few were also found in the back, the latter, however, doing no serious injury. One shot had punctured the gall sack & freed the fluid which was found distributed through the interior of the abdominal cavity, a necessarily fatal wound & one but of very rare occurrence. This shot had cut through the liver before reaching the gall sack. Another shot had cut through the folds of the intestines at several point & inflammation was found to have set in throughout the entire cavity of the abdomen. The verdict of the jury was to the effect that Edward Nauman came to his death from gunshot wounds at the hands of Virgil Stoneberger. The deceased was buried on Wednesday morning at the home of his grandfather. (issue 25 Jan 1938)
