NORTON, VA - Larry Wayne Adams, 59, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Holston Valley Medical Center. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and pastor of Oles Hill Community Church in Norton. A veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era, he was retired from Old Dominion Power Company, and currently was employed by Mountain Empire Older Citizens. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Lee and Anna P. (Sturgill) Adams.
Surviving are his wife, Andrea Adams, his sons, Aaron and Matthew Adams, his daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Anthony Cooke, his grandchildren: Ashton Adams, Tanner Cooke, Emalee Cooke, and Anthony (Lil Man) Cooke; his brother, Timothy Adams, Norton, and sister, Violet Burton, Big Stone Gap, VA, and a host of family and friends and brothers and sisters in Christ.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Monday at the Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home in Norton. Funeral services will be at 7 PM Monday in the funeral home chapel with Larry Mullins and Otto Gibson officiating. Family and friends will gather at 10:30 AM Tuesday at the funeral home where they will then travel in procession to Laurel Grove Cemetery where military grave rites will be provided by the Virginia National Guard Honors Team assisted by local veteran organizations. Pallbearers will be Matthew Adams, Aaron Adams, Anthony Cooke, Jay Cooke, Dean Helton and Sal Odierno.
