Born August 31, 1934 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Rudolph Henry and Helen Lillian (Russell) Bliesener.
Dorothy received her Master's degree in social work from the University of Iowa. She worked as an administrator for the Department of Human Services for 26 years until her retirement in 1993.
She was a member of the First United Church of Christ.
She belonged to the National Association of Social Workers, was on the Red Cross Board and served as a volunteer, and was a long time YWCA member.
Dorothy was an avid Iowa Hawkeye's fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and two nephews.
