Aged Resident of Richmond Passed Away at His Home Here. Saw Richmond Grow From a Forest.
Henry M. White, 91 years old, died at his home on South Camden street Saturday afternoon at 3:30, following a sickness lasting twelve days.
Mr. White became sick Sunday night, December 16.
That morning he attended church at the Christian church as usual, and then walked to the home of his son, J. C. White, on East Main street, where he ate dinher. After returning to his home on South Camden later in the day, he seemingly was in his usual good health, but about 11 o'clock he called to his son, Emmett, who with his wife, lived with him, and stated he was feeling very ill.
From then on Mr. White continued become worse until death claimed him at the above hour.
Mr. White was born September 22, 1843, on the farm owned by his father in what is now known as the Baber school district, near New Hope church.
He remained therewith his parents, and at the age of 24 was united in marriage to Miss Maud Mary Liza Rimmer, February 28, 1867, the ceremony taking place at the home of her parents, near New Hope church.
They continued to reside in that vi-cinity, where Mr. White bought a farm. They resided there until 1906 when they moved to Golden City, Mo., where they remained for eighteen months. They then returned to Ray county, settling in Richmond, where they resided until death called.
Mrs. White passed away January 5th, 1928, seven years ago.
This union twelve children were born.
Two having passed away, Robert Monroe White, dying in infancy; Mrs. Ida Bell (Harvey)
Brown passed away eighteen years ago.
Those surviving are: Andy F. White, Chicago; Newton R. White,Richmond; Thomas White, Richmond; James White, Kansas Mrs. Olen Frazier, Charles City; White, John C. White, Mrs. John
Short, Emmett White and Mrs. Bert Anderson, all of Richmond and vicinity.
