Emma Jayne Bernholz Kretlow, 100, completed her life on this earth on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, in Columbus, Georgia. Graveside services will be at Parkhill Cemetery on Monday, November 18, 2019 at 2:00 PM..

Emma Jayne was born on October 6, 1919 in East Orange, New Jersey to Frances and Philip Bernholz. She was a 1940 graduate of the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morris Township, NJ. At the end of WWII, Emma Jayne accepted a position teaching child of American soldiers in occupied Japan. After extensive world travel, Emma Jayne settled in Columbus, Georgia and spent the next several decades as a teacher and counselor at Jordan Vocational High School. Emma Jayne was a dedicated volunteer serving as choir director and organist at Christ the King Catholic Church, Columbus Hospice Volunteer, Muscogee and Harris County Jail Ministries Volunteer, FOCUS Volunteer and Contact Volunteer.

Emma Jayne is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sydney P. Kretlow, mother, Francis Curry Bernholz, father, Philip G. Bernholz and brother, Philip G. Bernholz, Jr. Emma Jayne leaves many dear friends to mourn her passing.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Christ the King Catholic Church, Columbus Hospice or Muscogee County Jail ministry.
