She was predeceased by her husband Norman in April 2010.
She leaves to mourn 2 sons, 1 granddaughter and 1 grandson. Visits with her three beautiful great-grandchildren prompted many smiles and giggles.
Gwen (Dick) came from a family of nine and has one living sister, Beth Blackmore (Red Deer).
Gwen's long fulfilling life was centered around family, church and caring for others. She and Norman spent many hours volunteering and were presented with the Governor General's Caring Canadian Award by Adriene Clarkson in 2000. The Family wants to acknowledge the exceptional care and consideration Gwen received from the staff at Devonshire Assisted Living for the last two years and prior to that, the wonderful "team" at Devonshire Village.
A private service celebrating Gwen's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please contribute to St. Paul's United Church Legacy Fund or a charity of your choice.
