John William Carey, 73, of Granbury passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2019. Service: 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 12, 2019, Wiley Funeral Home Chapel, Granbury, Interment: Rock Creek Cemetery, Visitation: 6:00 PM -8:00 PM, Monday, November 11, 2019, Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury.

John was born on June 11, 1946 in Memphis, Tennessee to Aubrey and Ruby Carey. He loved his family dearly especially his children and grandchildren. He promised his wife that he would take care of the girls, but he was sorely outnumbered.

John proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He enjoyed working and owned John Carey Construction and Carey Automotive & Transmissions. He built instrument landing systems and Navigational Aids across America.

John liked travelling to the beach and many places across the United States, scuba diving, visiting Mexico and going on cruises. He enjoy hunting, fishing, and eating Blue Bell homemade vanilla ice cream. He loved aviation and had his private pilot’s license. He was a proud member of Mensa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife: Lillie Carey, daughter: Ester Estelle Carey, and his sister: Audrey.

John is survived by his daughters: Twyna Hopper and husband JayDee, Belinda Wilson, Melinda Carey and Daisha Childress and Sean Knoerr, grandchildren: Balaina, Amanda, Daisha, Jennifer, Cassandra, Brent, Shane, Jonathan, and Candice, ten great-grandchildren, siblings: Naomi, Ann, Tony , and David and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
