Garry D. (Spooley) Ward, age 59, of Jacksboro passed away July 12 at VA Medical Center in Nashville. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, but attended Ivey Grove Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, Navy, and National Guard. He was preceded in death by his father, Cordice (Shorty) Ward.


He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Ward; daughters, Stacey Mayton of


LaFollette, Heather and husband, Carl Hall of Jacksboro; grandchildren, Christopher, Neka and Terry; mother, Geraldine Burress Ward of Caryville; mother, Geraldine Burress Ward of Caryville; brother, Eddie (Doodle) Ward and Belinda Benge of Caryville; sister, Patricia and husband, Juan Rivera of Jacksboro; mother in law, Mary Mayton of Harriman; sister in law, Edna Morris of Kingston; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services were held July 15 in the Cross Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Rutherford officiating. Interment was in the Campbell Memorial Gardens with military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard. Cross Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
