Roy Eugene Bogar, 67 of Grethel, KY passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019 in Florida.
Roy was born on April 17, 1952 in Williamson, WV the son of the late Joseph Ephraim "J.E." and Birdie Mae Runyon Bogar. Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Bogar; his sister, Nedria Stephenson and his brother-in-law, Bert Slater. Roy worked as a coal mine foreman for 43 years before his retirement. He was a longtime coach and referee for all sports.
Roy is survived by his loving wife Brenda Mitchell Bogar of Grethel, KY; his children, Roy Eugene (Christina) Bogar II of Canada, KY, Mark William (Noel) Bogar of Sidney, KY, Jonathan Paul (Kimberly) Bogar of Canada, KY, Bobby Gibson of Grethel, KY, Susanne Amanda Bogar of Pikeville, KY and Tammy (Russell) Ruehrwein of Milford, OH; his siblings, Elsie Ann Slater of Lake Wells, FL, Roger (Mae) Bogar of Narrows Branch, KY, Tom Bogar of Narrows Branch, KY, and Darryl (Brenda) Bogar of Clermont, FL; his sister-in-law, Debbie Bogar of Narrows Branch, KY; his brother-in-law, Paul Stephenson of Huntington, WV; his grandchildren, Sydni Nicole Bogar, Joshua Ryan Bogar, Kaitlyn Mattea Bogar, Zachary David Runyon, Christopher Ryan Blackburn, Kaden Isaiah Bogar, Kylie Grace Bogar, Jase Malachi Bogar, James Benjamin Robinette, Colin Ruehrwein, Clay Ruehrwein, and Brittany Slone. Roy also leaves behind a host of other loving family member and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday November 8, 2019 beginning at 2 PM at the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home chapel, with Roger Bogar officiating. Burial will follow at the Bogar Cemetery at Narrows Branch, KY where Roy's sons and grandson will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6-9 PM at the funeral home. R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry, KY is serving the Bogar family.
