Norma E. Wirey
PETERSBURG – Norma E. Wirey, 84, of Vincennes, formerly of Union, died at 5 p.m. Tuesday at her daughter's home in Vincennes.
Born April 12, 1912, she was the son (sic) of Thomas and Margaret (Hatfield) Grubb.
Wirey was a bookkeeper at A & P in Vincennes for 25 years. She was a member of Little Zion Primitive Baptist Church. In 1949 she moved to Pike County and operated a farm with her husband, in 1964, she moved to Arizona, where she managed the book store at Globe High School for seven years.
She married Gerald Wirey on May 19, 1930, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 1989.
Surviving are two sons, Rick Wirey of Washington and Gary Lee Wirey of Montgomery, Texas; a daughter, Jerry Ann Jones of Vincennes; two brothers, Ray Grubb of Hawthorne, Calif., and Clark Grubb of Kernville, Calif.; a sister, Eleanor Helm of Hawthorne, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A daughter, two brothers and two sisters are deceased.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Harris Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Little Zion Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

She retired after 25 years at the A&P Store.
She was a member of Little Zion Primitive Baptist Church and managed the Globe High School bookstore in Arizona for seven years. She and her husband, Gerald, who died in 1989, owned and operated a farm in Pike County.
Also surviving are two sons, Rick of Washington and Gary Lee of Montgomery, Texas; a sister, Eleanor Helm of Hawthorne, Calif.; two brothers, Ray Grubb of Hawthorne and Clark Grubb of Kernville, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. EST Friday at Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg, with burial in Little Zion Cemetery in Union.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
