Robert was born during the depression. He grew up in Santa Rosa where he ended up leaving High School early. At the age of 18, he joined the Army Air Force during WWII. During his service he was in the band and played, both the trombone and the baritone. As a trombone player, he played in New Guinea and the Philippines. He played with the USO shows, played before movies, that broadcasted once a week over jungle networks. He entertained troops in the Pacific, with dance and concert music. While he was in the military, he still helped to support his mother and siblings, back at home. After his military service, he followed the family to Fresno and at the age of 25, he met his wife, Dorothy, on a blind date. Six weeks later, they were married. His careers consisted of being a lumberjack, a tree topper, and a corrections officer. When he retired, he served as a Chaplain and taught bible study in the County jail. His hobbies included studying the bible, singing, playing music instruments, listening to records, and deer hunting. He proceeds his parents, his wife Dorothy, his son Renny, his grandson Patrick, his sisters Geraldine, Louise and Kathrine, and his brothers Jack, Dick, Bill, George, and Ken. He is survived by his children Karleen Lake, Robert, Lorin and Kenneth LeRoy, Diane Whetsel, James LeRoy, sisters, Bernice James, Myra Nielson, brothers Bernie and James LeRoy, 26 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
