She was born September 13, 1945 in Brady, Texas to Arles McWilliams and Lois (Hanson) McWilliams. She graduated from Mason High School in 1964. Then, she attended Business College in Wichita Falls. She married Larry Cassens on August 27, 1966. They were married for over 45 years.

Arlene retired from civil service after 37 years of employment. During her life she enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling with her daughter and grandson to numerous livestock shows. She cherished the time that she spent with Larry going to Ruidoso, New Mexico each summer. She loved shopping for antiques and other treasures with her numerous friends.

Arlene was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Lampasas, where she had served as a past church officer and was instrumental in chairing the facilities committee during the remodeling of the church’s sanctuary. She was a past member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Copperas Cove. At Immanuel, she was a past officer and member of the church’s ladies aide group. She not only coached city league softball, but she was a past 4-H youth leader, and a past member of both the Coryell County and Lampasas County Livestock Associations Ladies Auxiliary groups. For those who knew her, Arlene was very generous and was always there to help her family and friends at a moment’s notice. She was preceded in death by her parents.
