William A. Wray, Former County Councilman, Dies
William A. Wray, a former member of the Johnson County Council and a retired farmer, died in Mickey's Nursing Home, Monday morning at 9 o'clock.
In failing health for some time, Mr. Wray had entered the Johnson County Memorial Hospital on Aug. 14, where he was a patient for 13 weeks. He was then taken to the nursing home.
The body has been taken to the Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home where services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. The Rev. Carmen Albright, pastor of the Hopewell Presbyterian Church, will be in charge of the services and Mr. Wray will be buried in Rest Haven Cemetery at Edinburg.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday afternoon from 2 until 5 o'clock and at night from 7 to 9 o'clock. They are invited to attend the rites.
Native of Brown County
Mr. Wray was born in Brown County on July 14, 1879, and was the son of the late William G. and Ellen Curry Wray.
He was married to Ida Wirey on Dec. 31, 1902, and one son was born to them.
Mr. Wray had resided at Edinburg before moving to the Hopewell community in February of 1932, where he owned and operated his farm. Following the death of his wife on April 9, 1956, Mr. Wray retired and in March, 1958, moved with his son and his family to Bargersville.
He was a member of the Hopewell Presbyterian Church and for ten years had served on the county council.
His survivors are the son, Lawrence Wray, of Bargersville; two grandchildren, Miss Mary Jane Wray and Max Wray; and a brother, Roscoe Wray, of Indianapolis.
