Funeral services for Dwight D. Vines were held at First Baptist Church in Calhoun, LA on October 29, 2019. Vines passed away at his home after a lengthy illness. Dr. Vines joined the faculty of Northeast Louisiana State University (now Univ. of LA Monroe) in 1958 as an Instructor of Management and rose to the rank of Professor. He also served as Dean of the College of Business Administration before being named President of NLU. He served as President from 1976 to 1991. Dr. Vines was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Barlow Culpepper; his father, Dwight N. Vines; his brother, Bernard Vines; and sisters, Audrey Lee Vines and Judith Kay Vines Foster. He is survived by his wife, Jean Varnado Vines; sons, Michael, Timothy, and David; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren: brothers, Mickey Culpepper and Dwight N. "Bo" Vines, Jr.; sisters, Margie Vines Humphrey, Elizabeth Culpepper Jordan, Martha Vines Henderson, Norma Vines Head, Beverly Vines Goodrich, Sue Vines Jackson and Donna Vines; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
