Daughter of Hollywood film star Buck Jones (1891-1942). Former wife of actor Noah Beery Jr. (1913-1994), marrying March 30, 1940, and divorcing November 19, 1965.

Maxine Evelyn Jones was an artist who was born in 1918. The artist's first piece to be offered at auction was "Buck Jones' Bohlin-made Pistol" at Brian Lebel's Old West Events in 2021.
Maxine was the daughter of performers Buck Jones and Odile Osborne, an early western movie star and both were famous stunt and trick riders. Maxine graduated from the Flintridge School for Girls in Flintridge. She worked as a fashion designer for Universal Studios and worked as a model for a time. Maxine married her 1st husband, actor Noah Beery Jr. in 1940 and they had 3 children, Muffett, Melissa and Bucklind. The couple separated in 1965, divorcing in 1966.
She then moved to Montecito where she purchased a home and continued her friendship with Nick Firfires, she was his art manager. In 1969, 22 years after they first met Nick and Maxine were united in marriage. Nick was the artist who illustrated many of the Buck Jones and Gene Autry books, so they had known one another for many years. In 1971 Nick and Maxine purchased an acre of land in Montecito, CA, and built a house and art studio, there they continued painting and riding horses together for the rest of their days.
The two were quite the couple and participated in many local events including our Old Spanish Days Fiesta, both would dress in western parade outfits, and both rode silver parade saddles, just like Maxine's mother and father Dell and Buck Jones. Maxine passed away on August 22nd, 1990, after a long bout with cancer and sadly Nick was devastated and was never able to come to terms with her passing and sadly passed away a month later on September 21, 1990, on the same Waunakee Ranch he was born on.
