Catherine was the 3rd wife of Hiram Walston. She first married a wealthy Merchant, James W. Brede on 12 Jan 1861 in Monroe Co., MS. They had two children, George W. and Mary Brede. James Brede had been married previously. His 1st wife died leaving him with two children that he sent to Connecticut for boarding and education. James enlisted into the Confederate States Army, 3rd Battalion, State Troops. He died during the war, verified by estate papers. After his death Catherine moved to Middlesex Co., CT and was living there in 1870 with the children of James 1st marriage and her own two children George and Mary. Some time after 1870, Catherine and her two children moved to Anderson Co., TX where she married Hiram Walston on 11 August 1872.
