John Larry Ball, 79, of 70 Laurel Loop, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2009 at his home.

A native of Madison County. He had resided in Buncombe County since 1950s and retired from Square D Corporation in the late 70s. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Ball is the son of the late Burnette Ball and Fannie Fortner Ball and husband of Anna Lenora Tolley Ball who died May 18, 2008.

Surviving are his daughters, Teresa Fagan and Anna Catolster both of Asheville, Kathy Kemp and Pam Whiteker both of Texas; sons, Larry Ball and Johnny Ball both of Texas; step daughters, Betty Harris of Raleigh and Rebecca Henderson of Richmond, VA; sisters, Pearl Sexton and Bessie Brazil both of Weaverville; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 P.M. Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. William J. McMahon officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Asheville High JROTC.
