Clara Helen Lund, 88 of Enderlin, North Dakota died Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, North Dakota.

Clara was born on March 31, 1929 in Fredonia, North Dakota the daughter of John and Matilda (Gumke) Schlecht. As a young child, Clara’s family moved to the Enderlin area where she was raised and educated. She attended Moore Country School and this is where Clara met the love of her life, Lorne Lund. Family and friends often asked when they would get married which they always answered “next Tuesday”. So they were married on Tuesday, October 5, 1948 at 11:00 a.m. at Fillmore Lutheran Church. The joking continued that it was just too windy that day to be in the field picking rocks. Lorne and Clara were happily married for 62 years.

They made their home on a farm in rural Enderlin, where Clara helped with the daily operation of the farm. Their home on the farm always had a fresh pot of coffee and some good comfort food ready to go for any neighbors/friends that would stop by to visit. Clara was the correspondent for the Moore Liberty News column in both the Enderlin and Lisbon newspapers. She also assisted the Nome Historical Society with documenting their history. She was the support staff for K & L Toys. Clara and Lorne moved to Enderlin in 2010.

Clara was a lifelong member of Fillmore Lutheran Church and after it closed, she became a member of First Lutheran Church. She was a 4-H Leader for many years, member of the Hustler Homemakers and was busy during SodBusters Days demonstrating the process of making soap. Clara also blessed her family and friends with many gifts from her beautiful embroidery, sewing and crocheting work. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Clara is survived by her daughter, Terese (Ron) Rotenberger of Milnor, ND; son, Kerwin (Sally) Lund of Hazen, ND; daughter-in-law, Sharon Lund of Fingal, ND; eight grandchildren, Mark (Jill) Lund, Heather Lund, Trevor (Jen) Lund, Tracy (Dan) Bergemann, Adam (Annie) Johnson, Dani (George Hall) Lund, Megan Lund and Lynnae (Tyler) Peterson; thirteen great-grandchildren; David, Keirra , Jacob, Kelly and Emily Lund, Autumn and Garrett Harland, Nick, Colton and Ashlyn Bergemann, Skylar and Levi Johnson, Faraday and Luca Hall, two sisters, Ella Skramstad of Fargo, ND; Anna Anderson of Britton, SD; two brothers, Ben Schlecht of Centralia, WA and Karl Schlecht of Lisbon, ND; numerous nieces and nephews.
