US Congressman. He was noted in his home state as a successful dairy manufacturer in Macomb, Illinois. From 1931 to 1936, he was president of the Illinois Milk Dealers' Association and president of the Illinois Dairy Products Association in 1937. In 1939, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-sixth and to the four succeeding Congresses, serving until 1949. Not was not a candidate for re-nomination, he returned to his business pursuits. He was elected mayor of Macomb in 1949 and resigned after serving two years.
