It is with heavy hearts that the Hockin family announces the passing of Martha Hockin 78, Who entered the
gates of Heaven on Oct. 29 2019. Martha was born on July 19, 1941 in Mobile, Alabama to the late Elza Lee
Barnes and Flora Bell Barnes, along with her twin sister Margaret.
At an early age due to her fathers death, she was adopted by her aunt, Carolyn Jones. She is survived by her
husband of almost 58 years, Thomas R. Hockin; her children Ivy Lynn Birkner and husband Timothy of Deer Park; Van Alan Hockin and wife Crystal of Cypress; Dee Anne Dalager and husband Troy of Cove; sister Margaret Ainsworth of Huffman; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her adopted mother and half sister, Dorothy Gould.
Martha graduated from Reagan High School in the Houston heights in 1959. She was a Past Worth Advisor in the Rainbow Girls. She managed three different Dairy Queens in Pasadena for 25 years then went back to school to obtain an associates degree and worked for the Pasadena Independent School district as a substitute teacher. Martha is a former member of the Red Bluff Church of the Nazarene where she served as the Missionary Society president and assisted with the Nazarene Young Peoples Society. for the last year and a half she has been attending the Victory Baptist Church in Leon Co. Texas and the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Pasadena. She was a devout Christian and loved the Lord and her wish is that all of her family will reunite with her in Heaven.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday, November 1, 2019. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 . Both services will be held at Pasadena Funeral Chapel. Internment will follow at Confederate Cemetery, 998 Dickinson Rd. Alvin, Texas.
