June 17, 1949 ~ October 9, 2019 (age 70)
Johnny Mack “Corny” Cornelius, 70, passed away on October 9, 2019. He was born on June 17, 1949, in Athens, Texas, to the home of Jim and Opal Cornelius.
Johnny was a very spontaneous, fun-loving, jokester. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved to mow the yard, fish, play golf, and watch the Cowboys. He also loved music and always wanted to dance. Johnny was a very loyal friend and enjoyed spending time with J.W. "Whoop" Wheeler, who was his best friend since the 1st grade. But more than anything, he loved spending time with his family.
He was a Vietnam Navy Veteran and drove a truck for 50 years. “Red Devil” spent 20 years working for King Sand and Gravel out of Trinidad, Texas.
Johnny will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and as his wife of 46 years stated, “HE WAS LOVED!”
He is survived by his wife Barbara Cornelius; children Shoncie Carter and husband Greg Jones, Shonna Faria and husband William Barton; grandchildren Aaron Cornelius, Satin Cornelius-Hill, P.J. Faria, Dalton Pickle, Trevor Carter, and Trenton Carter; great-grandchildren Johnny Koonce and Sailor Hill; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Johnny is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers Jim s, Jr. and Glenn Cornelius.
