R. D. "Doug" Graves of Heber Springs died at his home on February 25, 2002, Born August 29, 1920 in Mountain View, MO, he was the son of J. W. and Kate Heuer Graves. He married Thela Garland Epperson on September 10, 1940 in Mountain View, MO and they had four daughters. He owned and operated a family shoe store in Mountain View, MO for many years. He was also manager of the Heuer-Williams Shoe Warehouse in Springfield, MO for several years. Throughout his life, he enjoyed repairing shoes, hunting in the great outdoors and spending time with his family and friends. He loved to study God's word and he was a loving husband, father and papa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Thurman.
He is survived by his wife, Thela: four daughters, Donna Smith and husband, Jerry of Heber Springs, Karen Cafourek and husband, Ron, of Carthage, MO, Bertie Bailey and husband, Dan, of Cassville, MO and Jimmie Moger and husband, Dick of Springfield, MO; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held February 27 at 10 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church in Peace Valley, MO. Interment will be in New Hope Cemetery in Peace Valley. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Prevailing Word Christian Center, 133 Frauenthal St., Heber Springs, AR 72543.
