Professional Hockey Player. A native of Brockville, Ontario, he played the position of Defense for the National Hockey League's Montreal Canadians, and the Boston Bruins, between 1942 and 1946. After his time in the National Hockey League, he became a player for several minor league teams including the Houston Huskies, and the Springfield Indians, before retiring in 1949. He also became a hockey coach and worked as a linesman for the American Hockey League for many years until he suffered a heart attack in 1958. Due to his ill health he again retired and moved to Fort Erie, Ontario. He died from a second heart attack in 1974. His total NHL career consisted of 57 games played, 7 goals scored, 18 assists, and 25 points. His son Mike McMahon Jr., also went on to have a professional hockey career.
