MRS. SCRANTON IS DEAD

Was Born at Baraboo, Wis. in 1834

One of the Most Interesting of the Soo's Pioneers - Funeral Will Be Held Monday

Mrs H. A. Scranton passed away this morning at 1 o'clock, at her residence, 214 Barbeau street, after an illness of six weks. With the passing of Mrs. Scranton, the community loses one of the oldest and most interesting of its pioneers.

Henrietta Barbeau de Bois Dore Scranton was born November 2, 1834 at Baraboo, Wis., then a small fur trader's village. Her father Pierre Barbeau, who was an employee of the Hudson Bay Fur Company, was one of the early white settlers at the Sault. Mrs Scranton was brought to the Soo when a year old and with the exception of a few years of her early married life, this has been her home.

In 1857 she married Myron W. Scranton. She is survived by five children, Mrs. P.M. Church, Mrs. E. S. B. Sutton, Mrs. J. C. Shaw, Gilman, and Henrietts Scranton, and one sister, Mrs. F Pendiill of Marquette.

Full of the memories of a long and active life, a generous and warm-hearted friend, Mrs. Scranton will be missed by a large circle of friends.

The funeral will be held Monday from the home. Interment at Riverside.
