A Christian memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2013, at Assembly Christian Center, 4201 E. Admiral Doyle Drive, New Iberia, for Luther Joseph Landry, 68, who died Monday, August 5, 2013, in New Iberia. Graveside services will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Jeanerette.

A lifelong resident of Jeanerette, L.J. was born in the family home on February 22, 1945. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Jeanerette. He was a retiree of welding after 43 years. He enjoyed gardening with his two granddaughters, watching football with his daughter, fishing with his son, spending time with his companion and family dog Kissey, taking care of family and friends, but most of all dancing with his wife of 49 years. He was an extremely hard worker. Every single thing he did, he did to the very best of his ability. He went above and beyond to be an amazing, dedicated and loving family man.

He is survived by his soul mate and wife, Linda Capps Landry; son Kurt Joseph Landry and wife, Angela Bodin Landry; daughter Neta Allene Landry; granddaughters Jaylin Neta Marcotte and Alyse Nicole Landry; brother Ulysse Landry and wife, Shirley; sister-in-law Nancy Capps; niece and godchild Tina Moore Blanchard and husband, Steven; nieces Mary Anne Moore, Irene Tramonte and husband, Byron, Tanya Migues and husband, Jarrod; nephew and godchild Chad Landry and wife, Jan; nephew Tate Landry and wife, Margret; cousins and friends Pat Reaux and Royce Landry and husband, Russell.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Irene Petitfils Landry; father, Ulysse Landry; sister Marie Landry Moore; and his daughter’s fiancé, Lonnie Landry Jr.

Special thanks to his sister-in-law Nancy Capps, niece and godchild Tina Moore Blanchard and husband, Steven, cousins Royce Landry and Pat Reaux and lifelong friends Bobby Bourgeois, Leonard Judice and Ross and Celeste Trahan, who provided him with love and support throughout his life and especially during his lengthy illness.
