Linda Carol Black, age 66, of Barbourville, Kentucky departed this life on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin, Kentucky. She was the wife of Thomas Black, Sr. and the daughter of Lawnzo and Anna Mae (Rose) Hembree, born to them on June 9, 1953.

Linda was a member of Boone Height Penecostal Church and a homemaker. She loved growing flowers, gospel music, going to church and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lawnzo and Anna Mae (Rose) Hembree, brothers Raymond Gray and Gilbert Gray, sisters Marie Clouse, Violet Gibson and Brenda Hembree.

Left behind to mourn her passing are her loving husband Thomas Black, Sr., stepsons Thomas L. Black, Jr. and wife Amanda of Flat Lick, Kentucky, Garrett Black and wife Rebekah of Corbin, Kentucky, step daughter Kimberly Gambrel and husband Michael of Corbin, Kentucky, eight grandchildren, brother Larry Hembree and wife Barbara of Williamsburg, Kentucky, sisters Sue Bowling of Ohio, Helen Hamilton, Evelyn Stevenson and Barbara Hibbard and husband Danny, all of Barbourville, Kentucky, and special friends Wanda Partin, Danny ‘Dano’ Hibbard and Darrell ‘Huggie Bear’ Hibbard. She is also survived by many relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services for Linda Carol Black will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Boone Height Pentecostal Church, with Reverend Charles Henson officiating. Pallbearers will be Garrett Black, Thomas Black, Jr., Michael Gambrel, Jr., Jimmy Black, Billy Wilson, Casey Mills and Danny Hibbard, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be the doctors and staff of Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin, Kentucky. Burial will follow in the A.J. Gray Cemetery at Flat Lick, Kentucky. Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Friends will be received at the Cobb-Hampton Funeral Home on Friday, October 25, 2019 from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and at the Boone Height Pentecostal Church on Saturday, October 26, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
