Funeral for Ethel M. Sterett, 72, of Davenport, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 21, at the Strate Funeral Home Chapel in Davenport, with Brother Lee Kerchaw officiating. Interment will follow at the Reardan Cemetery. Mrs. Sterett died March 17 in Spokane. Born May 23, 1929, in Creston, she was the daughter of Fred and Gertrude (DeBord) Mangis. She graduated from Creston High School. She and her husband Jack, whom she married Jan 18, 1948, made their home west of Davenport, where they ran a cattle ranch and raised three children. Known for her strong faith in God, she enjoyed time spent with family and friends, cooking, nature, wildlife and flowers. Big Band era music was her favorite and, a pianist, she and her husband played at several grange hall dances in the area. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Lavonne (Sterett) Murray, in 1983; a brother, Jerry Mangis; and a sister, Doris Douglas. She leaves her husband; two children, Linda (and Jeff) Fogarty of Kirkland, WA, and Sandy (and Evelyn) Sterett of Davenport; four grandchildren....; two brothers, Jess Mangis of Creston and gale Mangis of Grand Ledge, MI; a sister, Lorene Brown of Creston; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service for Ethel M. (Mangis) Sterett, 72, will be at 11 am Thursday at Strate Funeral Home in Davenport. Burial will be at the Reardan (Wash.) Cemetery. Mrs. Sterett, who was born in Creston, Wash., died Sunday. She was a lifelong resident of Lincoln County. She grew up on the family farm between Creston and Davenport. She graduated from high school in Creston. Mrs. Sterett was a homemaker and a member of the Wilson Grange. Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Jack; a daughter, Linda Fogarty of Kirkland, Wash., a son, Sandy Sterett of Davenport; two brothers, Jess Mangis of Creston and Gale Mangis of Grand Ledge, Mich.; a sister, Lorene Brown of Creston; and four grandchildren.
