The Rev. Diego G. Vera, 76, of 1106 N. Ben Jordan, retired Presbyterian minister, and resident of Victoria for the past nine years, died at 2:06 a.m. Sunday in a local hospital following a long illness.
The Rev. Mr. Vera was born Oct. 20, 1901 in China, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He attended schools in Mexico, and the Theological Seminary at Austin.
He was ordained a minister in 1936 while in New Gulf, Texas and was a member of Second Presbyterian Church.
A Bible service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Artero Memorial Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Second Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jose Guerrero officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Juanita Biddy Torres Vera of Victoria; three sons, Nehemias J. Vera of Rowland Heights, Calif., Rigoberto M. Vera and Ezequiel H. Vera, both of Victoria; and a brother, Celestino Vera of China Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
