Aaron L. Braxton Jr., 74, of the 800 block of Jamestown Drive, died March 16,1999, at Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Norfolk to the late Beulah Braxton and the late Aaron L. Braxton Sr. He was a letter carrier for 30 years for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, a past worshipful master of Tidewater Lodge No. 106, Norfolk, and an active Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop No. 73.

The widower of Essie M. Braxton, Mr. Braxton is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Cecelia T. and Otis Jackson of Norfolk; a son, Aaron L. Braxton III of Bowie, Md.; a sister, Rose Braxton West of Berkeley, Calif.; three brothers, Earl S. Braxton and Elijah J. Braxton, both of Norfolk, and Harold E. Braxton of Ettick, Va.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two stepchildren, Karla Lassiter and Robert Lassiter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church by the Rev. William L. Davis. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. A wake will be held at 7 p.m. today at the church. The family will assemble at 7432 Diven St. at 11:30 a.m. for the procession. The remains will be in the church at 10 a.m. Saturday for viewing. Metropolitan Funeral Service, Berkley Ave., is handling arrangements.
