Gary R. Jennings, Jr.
December 30, 1970 – April 22, 2018 Gary Robert Jennings, Jr., age 47 of Monroe, passed away Sunday, Apr. 22nd at University of Michigan Hospital, Ann Arbor, after a brief illness.

Gary was born the oldest of four children to Karen Sue (Graham) and Gary Robert Jennings, Sr. on December 30, 1970 in Monroe. He attended Monroe Public Schools and worked as a laborer for Laborer’s International Union of America, Local 465 since the age of 18.

Gary was just a good and simple guy. He didn’t require a lot, but he loved to give whenever he could. He never had his own family but that’s how he wanted it. Instead, he spoiled his nieces and nephews. He adored them and they adored him. Some of his other loves were food, drink, music, and anything sports. He played several sports throughout his life and would watch, listen to, or attend just about any sporting event. His favorite teams were the Michigan Wolverine’s, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Detroit Tigers. He was also an avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing his whole life.

Anyone who knew Gary knows he lived by his own rules. He could always make you laugh, and he had a huge, loving heart. You didn’t always understand him but you always knew where you stood with him. Gary’s passing will leave a huge hole for those who knew and loved him best.

Leaving to cherish his memory are his mother, Karen (Robert) Jacobs, Jr.; sisters, Kim (Mickey) Patton and Kelly (Shane) Richard; brother, Adam (Kim) Jennings; seven nieces and nephews; several aunts and uncles; and several cousins. He also leaves his pet dog and buddy, “Hammer”, and his lifelong childhood friends whom were also like his family. Sadly, Gary was preceded in death by his father, Gary Robert Jennings, Sr.; his grandparents, Lorean and James Ellison, Thelma Mrock and Roy Jennings; and uncles, Charles Jennings and Herbert Guy.

Family and friends may visit from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rupp Funeral Home where services will be held at 7 p.m. Rev. Larry Detruf will officiate. Cremation will follow in accordance with his wishes.
