Pansy Lee Moore Carpenter
Mrs. Pansy Lee Moore Carpenter, 79, of Rockyford Street, Morganton, departed this life on Friday, July 6, 2007, at Durham Regional Hospital following an extended illness.
She was born June 13, 1928, in Caldwell County to the late William "Will" Moore Sr. and the late Lillie Perkins Moore.
She was a member of Gaston Chapel A.M.E. Church where she was a member of the Women's Missionary Society No. 2, the senior choir, kitchen committee, stewardess board, Vera Holt Missionary Society, Bethune Women's Civic Organization, soup kitchen volunteer and a member of the Order of Golden Circle No. 361 Unifour Assembly. She retired in 1992 from Henredon Furniture Company after having served for more than 30 years as the manager of the cafeteria.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Lawrence O. Carpenter of the home; a son, Gary J. Wright of Morganton; daughters, Deborah L. Carpenter of Morganton and Jennifer C. Carpenter and her husband, Eugene Eaves Jr., of Durham; one granddaughter, Tracy A. Wright; a daughter-in-law, Barbara A. Wright; brothers, Pink O. Moore, Lester Moore and his wife, Eula Mae, William "Reese" Moore Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth and Clinton E. Moore, all of Morganton; an uncle, Ralph Perkins of Morganton; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Roosevelt Moore.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Gaston Chapel A.M.E. Church with the Revs. Ronald J. Knight, Tommy Carpenter, Rupert Ferguson and Herbert Carter officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Burial will follow services at Burke Memorial Park.
