Allen Linward Calcote died Sunday afternoon at home, October 13, 2019.

Born in Newberry, SC on July 7, 1932, he was a son of the late Reverend Claude Allen and Janet McGhee Calcote. He graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School, class of 1951, and received his BS in Business from Davidson College in 1955. He earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tennessee in 1957. Allen retired from Eastman Chemical Company in 1994 after 28 years of service.

He was a member of the Kingsport Jaycees, Webelows Leader, Assistant Scout Master of Troop 89, Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow, and a British car fan. Allen was the past President of the Daniel Boone Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA), past President the Appalachian British Car Society (ABC) and he spent numerous hours at Exhange Place Historic Restoration. He was a member of Waverly Road Presbyterian Church for 60 years and served as a Deacon, taught Sunday School, and was instrumental in church maintenance projects. Throughout his adult life Allen loved working with children, leading scouts, tutoring physics, teaching rope-making, science projects, and Pinewood Derby

His parents, Claude and Janet, and brother Dr. Mack Calcote preceded him in death.

Surviving is his high school sweetheart and wife of 64 years, Margaret Marshall Calcote, his two children, Edward Allen Calcote, Dallas, TX, and Katherine (Kitty) Lynn Calcote Palmer (Vic), Kingsport, TN, grandchildren Edward Palmer (Anna), Thomas Palmer and Marshall Palmer, two great-grandchildren, Charles and Catherine, sister-in-law Vivian Calcote and two nieces.

The family will receive friends 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019 at Waverly Road Presbyterian Church, Kingsport, TN. The service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Colin Adams officiating. The graveside service will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Waverly Road Childcare Center, 1415 Waverly Road, Kingsport, TN 37664 or Exchange Place Historic Restoration, 4812 Orebank Road, Kingsport, TN 37664.
