B. Joe bickford, was born April 21, 1946 in Sterling, Kansas to Charles Henry and Neta Pearl(Willhoite) Bickford.

The family moved to Tiawah when he was three years old. He went to school in Tiawah and Claremore. He attended Northeast Tech in Pryor where he took automotive classes. He opened Bickford Auto Repair as a road side auto repair service with a van and his hands.

Later hr bought United Wrecker Service where he soon expanded his fleet to two semi wreckers, a roll back and a wheel-lift wrecker. After he closed the auto repair/towing service, he opened a convenience store on East Hwy 20. From there hr opened another store, BJ's Pit Stop, in Verdigris, Trecia (Trisha) served the Verdigris area for 11 years when they retired to the farm.

Joe was proud of his cattle. He started a "commercial" herd and soon went to the Braunvieh, and a few years later to angus. Then he bought Buddy, his black hereford bull, and now has a fine herd of "black baldies" (black angus with white faces). Once in a while a red calf would be born, much to his dismay. The stockyard buyers always knew the black baldies were the best for beef.

Of course with cattle you have to bale hay and different people kept Joe busy all summer baling round and square bales. A lot of times they wanted their pastures baled to keep them clean. He wouldn't just bale anything, if it had weeds and trash he would refuse "I don't want that junk on my place".

Along with keeping the cattle healthy he was keeping all the pecan trees cleaned up under. To have a stick on the ground or a weed growing was almost more than he could stand. His property in Tiawah went from being an overgrown acreage to a beautiful ranch.

He was devoted to his wife, Trecia, and their daughters and grandchildren.
Of course he needed Trecia to be close by, he was always needing another cup of coffee. They were married December 29, 1967 in Claremore and their next anniversary would have been 52 years together.

Joe was hurt in a skiing accident in 1970 when Kathryn was 8 months old and had numerous back surgeries, hip replacements, a triple bypass, stints,a pace maker and various other surgeries, but it never stopped him. He was always striving to better his property and cattle.

Joe felt the touch of the Master's Hand on his life in about 1990 and continued to serve the Lord until his last breath. He and Trecia, along with Kathryn, were members of God's Amazing Grace church in Catoosa and no matter how much pain he was in, he wanted to be in the house of the Lord. They also enjoyed going to Sequoyah Full Gospel church where they had raised theor girls.

Joe is survived by his wife, Trecia, of the home; daughters Kathryn and husband David Bolen of Catoosa and Kimberleigh Grace and husband Steve Bickford of Holiday, Florida.
