The following is paraphrased from the obituary that appeared on Page A6, of the Herald Democrat, dated July 9, 2007.

Bill was born in Calera, Oklahoma to the late Nicholas and Lena (Rasheuber) Arend. He died in Sherman, Texas. He was 81 years old.

He graduated from Lindsay High School and attended Midwestern University for two years. After serving in the U.S. Army, he married Miss Margaret "Peg" Tomlinson on November 3rd, 1949 in Duncan, Oklahoma. The couple was blessed with two children.

Bill worked for Halliburton for over 35 years before retiring in 1986. Bill volunteered his services to the Home Hospice, and was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sherman, Texas, Ombudsman, and Knights of Columbus. He was also a lifetime time member of the American Legion and VFW.

Left to cherish his memories, is his wife of over 57 years, Peg of Sherman; two sons, William Jr. and his wife Suzanne Arend of Littleton, Colorado, and James and his wife Virginia Arend of Topeka, Kansas; five grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; one brother Nicholas and his wife Fran Arend of Gainesville, Texas; and one sister, Helen Yosten of Muenster, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Fred, John and Max, and two sisters, Fran and Florence.

A rosary was recited by Deacon John LeBlanc at Waldo Funeral Home Chappel.

Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Reverend Jeremy Myers, Pastor of the church officiating. Burial was held at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery with members of the Knights of Columbus serving as honor guard and pallbears.
