Dorothy L. Schoentrup, 81, died on October 9, 2019 at St. Francis South Hospital. She was born on October 9, 1938 in Indianapolis, the daughter of Walter McDonald and Frances (Skirvin) Thomas.

Dottie attended Decatur High School, class of 1956. She married William R. Schoentrup in 1956. They celebrated 63 years of marriage in May. She worked at many retail establishments including The Mart, J.C. Penney, and Meijer where she loved to socialize with customers. She enjoyed baking for her family and friends and was a talented cake decorator. She attended church services most recently at The Creek Christian Church in Franklin Township.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Karla A. Porter; brother, Larry J. McDonald; sister, Betty Jane Arble; and an infant brother. She is survived by her husband; one son; one daughter; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother; and one sister.

A service of remembrance will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, October 14, 2019 at Indiana Funeral Care, 2433 East Main St., Greenwood, IN 46143. Visitation the same day will precede the service beginning at 11:00 AM. Procession to Acton Cemetery for interment will follow the service.
