William Edward Gardiner Was born the 25th of February 1816, at Bisley, Gloucester, England. He was the son of Issac Tanner and Fanny Twissell Gardiner. He was converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints by Heber C, Kimball and was baptized into the church about 1842 in Chalford England.
He married Sarah Melsome Hughes in 1840. She died about 1865 of TB.
He then marries Lydia Roberts of Bisley about 1859. She died in July of 1869, and then he married a widow, Sarah Shaddock Butter (Wright)about 1872.
The two of them came to America, and on to Utah in 1876
