Funeral services will be Friday for Girnie Ray Brown, a longtime resident of Santa Cruz, who died Monday at a local hospital following a brief illness. He was 79. Born in Oklahoma, Mr. Brown came to Santa Cruz in 1932. He was a contract laborer in the local farming industry for 30 years.
He is survied by his wife, Edna Brown of Santa Cruz; sons, Charles Reagan of Redding, Art L. Reagan of New York, and Girnie Brown of Reno, Nev.; daughters, Bernice Wolfenbarger of San Jose and Bertie Coley of Santa Cruz; brothers, O.A. Brown of Stockton, Elmer McDonald of Hayward, and George Brown of Santa Cruz; 24 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Norman's Family Chapel, 3620 Soquel Drive, Soquel. Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday. Committal will be in Oakwood Memorial Park.
