COD: Paralysis Infantile, contributing factor: heart disease. Died at home in Creighton. Bur July 14 1914 at Parker-Gregg. Death Certificate witnessed by A.V. Maupin.

Family notes indicate John Flat's wife is buried next to him (no marker has been found for her). He is buried next to his daughter, Nancy Jane Wells, on one side, and a large area on the other side with no markers, where Mary Jane and his 2nd wife, Maria Elizabeth (Fulton-Bellomy), may be buried. Cemetery records show they are in the same row, but do not show grave location.

Update: Dousing of the area indicate remains of two adult females immediately to John's right.

CAUTION: John FLAT Gregg married Mary Jane Page who is a niece of the Mary Jane Page who married John FLINT Gregg.

While there has been some confusion over whose military marker the John F Gregg is for, research by Margaret Kerns shows that John Flint Gregg served in Co D, Mo. Home Guards and in Co G, 7th MO S.M. Cav; while John Flat Gregg served in Co L, 6th MO Cav. Both men served on the Union side.

Marriage record for John Flat and Maria is shown on-line as Mrs. Lizzie Belleman to John Gregg on June 6 1880. An examination of the document, which is very faint, shows it is Mrs. Lizzie Bellomy, and the date appears to be June tenth, not June 6. It ws filed for record on June 15 1880.

John FLAT Gregg and wife, Mary Jane (Page), and John FLINT Gregg and wife, Mary Jane (Page), are all buried in Parker-Gregg. John FLINT Gregg did have a non-military marker which was not found in 2007. Neither wife is known to have had markers. There is no known relationship between John FLAT and John FLINT Gregg.

Dowsing of the area indicates there is an adult females immediately to right of John's marker, believed to be his wife, Mary Jane. Another adult female is to her right, believed to be his 2nd wife, Maria. Someone has placed crosses at the two unmarked graves

Thanks to Margaret Kerns for her research, and to my friend Sylvia for calling the information to my attention.
