Mel spent two years in the Navy during World War II. In 1955 Mel started Glasgow Ready Mix Concrete Company in Montana. In 1962 he expanded the business to Helena, Montana.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce two sons, Lawson and Kent a daughter, Cat two grandchildren, Melanie and Eric a great granddaughter, Alexis a brother, Neil and a sister, Racheal.
The funeral will be held Monday, July 17, 2006, in Greenlawn Funeral Home South, Springfield. The viewing will begin at 9 a.m. and the service at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery.
