Jonathan Labe Jenkins was born on 24 August 1905 in Graham County, North Carolina, the eldest child of John C. Jenkins (1871-1936) and Modenia Crisp Jenkins (1886-1972). He was raised in Stecoah, NC. He was later married. He worked as a miner in the coal mines. He died on 11 September 1988 in Elizabethtown, NC at the age of 83. He was interred at Watson Cemetery.
