Dies at 77
Eden- Joseph Peter Stallings,77, Died today at nine-thirty a.m. at the family home following a six-week illness.
He was born Sept. 20, 1866, in Coalville, a son of Joseph and Charlotte Hussey Stallings. He had been a farmer all his life, owning his own farm in Eden. He married Isabell Ririe, Jan. 28, 1891, in the Logan L. D. S. temple. He came to Eden 75 years ago from Coalville. He was a member of the Eden L. D. S. ward where he was active as secretary of the high priests quorum. He has been superintendent of the Sunday school for a number of years and was active in the Young Men's Mutual and as a ward teacher. In 1926 he fulfilled a short-term mission for the L. D. S. church to the western states.
He is survived by his widow and the following sons and daughters; Warren J. Stallings, Eden; Leslie J. Stallings and Mrs. Ada Chambers, Ogden; Elmo D. Statllings, Central Point, Ore.; Mrs. Myrle Ward, North Ogden.
The couple also raised the following grandchildren: Mrs. Elna Deamer, Salt Lake City. William J. Chambers, U.S. army, Chambers Mass.; and Myron A. Chambers, Clearfield naval depot. Surviving also are 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and four sisters and brothers, Virgil B. Stallings, Brigham City; Geo. F. Stallings, Eden; Ezekel Stallings. Lewisville, Idaho, and Mrs. Courtney Carver, Ogden. Five grandsons are in service, one overseas in England.
The body is at the mortuary, 3408 Washington boulevard.
Stallings- Funeral services for Joseph P. Stallings of Eden will be held Monday at 1 p. m. at the Eden L. D. S. chapel, Bishop Leonard Fuller officiating. Viewing at Lindquist and Son's funeral chapel Saturday from 10 to 2 p.m. and at residence at Eden from 3 p. m. Saturday until Monday at funeral hour.
