He is survived by his wife, Edna (Brugger) Angie, whom he married on April 15, 1922 in Rochester, New York; his daughters, Mrs. Henry (Rose) VanVorst, Mrs. Gordon (Lorraine) Dill, Mrs. Donald (Betty) DeCoste, Mrs. Frederick (Edna) Foster; his sons, Charles, John D, Jr., Leonard T., Howard, Thomas, Gardner, and Gerald Angie; his sisters, Mrs. Lucy Wilston, Mrs. Margaret Humby, Mrs. Lola Reportelli of Caledonia, Mrs. Nellie Troy of Buffalo; thirty-seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grand-children; several nieces and nephews; his aunt, Mrs. Margaret Ellsworth of Buffalo.
He was a veteran of WWI and a member of the Eagles.
