Christine Mims, age 89, passed away at her home in Duncanville on September 30, 2019 with her family by her side.

Christine was an avid lover of people, her family, her church, music, traveling, roller-skating, dancing, singing, playing the guitar, oil painting, playing softball, dominoes & of course fishing! Christine worked for Southwestern Bell in Accounting from 1948-58, Sanger-Harris/Foley’s department stores for 20 years, volunteered at Charlton Methodist Hospital, Meals on Wheels. Christine served First Christian Church of Duncanville as Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher, President of Christian Women’s Fellowship, Board Member, Budget Committee, Choir as well as led/volunteered many circle meetings & church bazaars. If you needed a helper, Christine is who you called.

Christine is preceded in death by her identical twin, Ernestine Dixon, brother in-law Leland Dixon, Brothers Frank E. Arnold, Jr., & male baby Arnold; parents Lois Arnold & Frank Arnold. ‘Mims’ as she called her husband, had also passed, ret. Lt. Col. HS Mims, Jr., U.S. Army.

Christine is survived by her brother, Jerry Lee Arnold; daughter, Dr. Tina C. Mims; daughter-in-law, Ibis Lydia Sardinas; son, Howard “Tiger” Sidney Mims III; daughter-in-law, Melissa Ann Mims; grandchildren, Howard “Quay” Sidney Mims IV, Melanie Alayne Reed & husband Chuck, Chase Edmond Mims & wife, Lauren; Army SPC. Elyse K. Mims, Lane Thomas Mims & Lauren Wells; great grandchildren, Audrey Moreno, Makenzy Reed, Landon Reed, Carson Braden (Melanie’s children), Adleigh Mims, Keaton Mims (Chase’s children).

Interment will be at Rawlins Cemetery in Lancaster.
