ALTAMONT Edgar J. Hartmann, 92, died Friday, January 23, 2009 at home. "It is in dying that we are born into Eternal Life". He was born in Albany, the son of the late William and the late Caroline Hartmann. He moved to Guilderland in the spring of 1963 and was a farmer in Slingerlands and Guilderland. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Altamont for over 45 years. Edgar is survived by his wife, Freda (Reineck) Hartmann; two nephews, Ronald (Pat) Hartmann of Burnt Hills, N.Y. and Conrad (Pat) Hartmann of Slingerlands, N.Y. He is predeceased by two brothers, George and William Hartmann; two sisters, Anna May Miller and Mildred Hartmann; a nephew, George Hartman. A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at 10 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Altamont to be followed by an interment in St John's Lutheran Cemetery in Colonie. Friends may call on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Fredendall Funeral Home, Altamont.
