Emmett Herman Clark was a native of Gallia County, Ohio. On October 22, 1893, he married Margaret Gertrude Warren in Gallia County. Emmett was a graduate of Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. He was a mechanical engineer and a well-respected chemist. He worked at Standard Oil Company and later became the president of Sek Waterproofing company of Covington, Kentucky.
Emmett died because of an automobile accident. He was on his way from Kentucky enroute to Chicago to visit his wife who was ill and staying with their daughter. According to the investigation, Emmett was traveling at a high rate of speed when a tire blew out causing him to swerve out of control and striking a large truck which was parked on the side of the highway. Emmett was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
He leaves his wife of 41 years, their daughter, Ruth Rebecca Clark Purnell of Chicago, and a son. Joseph William Clark.
