Charles L. Weidner, age 84, died Thursday, September 26, 2019 at the Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home in Newman Grove, Nebraska.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 30, 2019 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus with Reverend Mike Swanton officiating. Visitation is 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday with a 5:00 p.m. Vigil Service at St. Anthony Church. Visitation will continue Monday morning from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. also at the church. Burial will be in the Ss. Patrick/Joseph Cemetery at a later date.

Charles L. Weidner was born December 24, 1934 in Humphrey, Nebraska to Ferdinand “Butch” and Agnes (Brandl) Weidner. He grew up on a farm near Cornlea, Nebraska. Charles married Bernadette “Bernie” Harsh on June 21, 1955 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. The couple lived in Platte Center before moving to Columbus. Charles worked at Behlen Manufacturing and then as a supervisor at Fleischer Manufacturing. He also worked as an insurance agent. Charles built his own home and was very proud of it. His garage was very organized and all his tools were in their place. At age 57 he had a heredity disability and towards the last few years could not walk. Charles was a member of St. Bonaventure Church, a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and attended holy hour with his wife. He was also a lifetime member of the N.R.A. He enjoyed puzzles, wood crafts, model cars and putting together lego sets. He loved sprint car racing, football and enjoyed gardening.
