Wynefred Mae Trentman, 50 year resident of Auburn, California, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2019. She was born in Boise, Idaho, on August 23, 1934, the oldest child of Chancy William and Donna Mae (Johnson) Bacon. The Bacon-Johnson clan was a musical family, and Wyn had a life-long love of singing and dancing, with a particular talent for the piano and organ. She was very young when she discovered the piano and enjoyed it so much her mother would fuss at her to STOP practicing! She became an accomplished pianist and accompanist and received classical training from her beloved teacher Adelaide Anderson Wayne of Boise. Warren Wilson was also a musical mentor and added beautiful music – well-performed – to her life and knowledge. She would draw from this musical foundation for the rest of her life.
Wyn was beautiful as well as talented, and was named Miss Boise 1956. She received an associate degree from Boise Junior College and worked for a time as a music teacher at Mountain Home Air Force Base and later as a stewardess for United Airlines.
In 1960, Wyn married Clarence Lee Trentman and settled in San Diego – where her children were born – until the family relocated to Auburn. She was a joyful mother and created a happy, loving and peaceful home for her family. Good humor was a wonderful part of the family’s everyday life.
A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Wyn also served well in many capacities – as an inspiring teacher, a leader in the Relief Society, and a choir director. She helped in the community as an accompanist for numerous school choirs, including Sierra College’s Sierra Singers, and worked in the PTA, Little League, and other organizations. She formed ‘nJoy, a women’s quartet that performed for several years at church and community functions, arranging much of their beautiful music herself.
A lifelong learner, she usually had a book and pen in hand. She had a particular interest in the gospel of Jesus Christ, current events, and the Constitution of the United States. In later years, Wyn and Lee travelled extensively – by car, plane, train and ship – and enjoyed exploring both home and abroad. She loved traveling to and with family.
Wyn’s legacy is one of a devoted wife, loving mother and Grammy, faithful church member, and loyal patriot. This world is better because she lived and loved. She will be sorely missed by all who’ve known and return her love.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Lee, her parents, and brothers Rollo and Dennis Bacon.
Survivors include her children, her sister, 14 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
