Local Theatre Operator Suffered Paralytic Stroke Friday and Died Four Hours Later
____________________________________________________________________

Harley E. Campbell, 51 years old, for 27 years a resident of Spencer, died Friday morning at his home here of a cerebral hemorrhage. He suffered a paralytic stroke about 4 o'clock that morning and died a few hours later without regaining consciousness. He had been failing in health a short time before.

In 1907 he and his brothers, George Jake and Forrest, came to Spencer from Chicago and opened a motion picture theatre which he continued to operate until about a year ago. When, owing to the general depression augmented by the National Bank failure, he closed the theatre to await a time of more general prosperity.

Forrest died some years ago. Jake removed to Chicago and Harley and George were left here.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. M. V. Foster of Linton, a former pastor here, were held Sunday afternoon in the Christian Church. A guard of honor from the American Legion escorted the body to the grave and fired the customary three volley salute over the grave and a bugler sounded "Taps". The casket was covered only by an American flag. The many beautiful floral offerings were banked along the pulpit in the church and, later, at the grave site.

The following obituary was read:
